The 6" springs will ride better than the 8" so as the 10.5" kit utilizes the 6" spring with 4.5" hangers, this kit will ride essentially the same as the 6". To some extent the opposite is true in the rear where you would use a 5" rear spring on the 8" kit and an 8" spring on the 10.5" kit. This however has less noticeable effect on ride quality.
You could start off with the 6" with rear blocks and then upgrade to the 10.5" at a later date. The switch would call for adding 8" rear springs w/u-bolts, 4.5" hangers, new shocks, crossover steering, 10.5" box kit, brake lines, and I would suggest a long slip front drive shaft. So what this boils down to is you would be replacing your original box kit, shocks, and rear blocks all of which would be marketable. Of course you would also likely step up in tire size as well. As a comparison the 10.5" kit costs approximately $1300 more than an 8" kit.
Hope this helps.
Donahoe, in your past experiences would the 6" edge and 37x12.5r? be a good combination to run on a single cab long bed? I have been researching this lift idea since march 03 and i want to make really sure i will get what is best for my uses but at the same time look good and be a fun toy to have. Also if this is a good set up what gearing would you suggest. I have a 5.4 in it, auto trans 4x4 with the xl package on it( just for your info), would the 4.30 or would a set of 4.56 run better for the truck?
37s will clear with the 6" kit but typically with some rubbing. In your case I would estimate that you will see at least 7.5" of lift out of the Edge 6" kit due to your 5.4 and lighter cab. So, you should experience less rubbing than the norm. The key is sticking with a narrower 37 like the BFG or MT-R. As far as gearing I typically suggest 4.30s for 37s but again with your 5.4 you might consider 4.56 if you don't plan on putting in too many highway miles. Hope this helps.
Tankhead,
As a comparison the 10.5" kit costs approximately $1300 more than an 8" kit.
Hope this helps.
If I remeber some of Kreg's internet pricing off his site correctly, the 8" all spring is less than $100 more than the 6" all spring. Or are you talking about the difference between the 6" w/ rear blocks to the 8" plus the extra $1300 (Don't bother answering). And rear blocks is the last route I wanted to go. But necessary so as not to buy 2 sets of springs. OKAY! Thanks for explaining that.
Way too much trouble starting the 6" route.
Like u already said, lets focus on the 8" and driveline.
My wife says I'm worse than a woman when it comes to shopping. Takes me hours to just find a good pair of shoes. I even hate goin cause I know how picky I can be. Be out of pocket again for the next few weeks. But, be talkin to ya next month after all this traveling!
dcspecial,
I can not load that link because of our web filter here at the base i am deployed to, is there any way you coupld post them or email me the pictures, I would like to see what it looks like so i can make my final plans and begin my save up for the build. I am planning on researching every part i put on the truck and with in that time save the money i need to build it the way I want it the first time and get it to a point where i am happy. All that would be left would be the small accent stuff, interior do-dads stuff like that. Thanks for the help guys this has been more then helpful so far for me as this is my first major build up i have taken on by myself.
Hope this helps.

Tankhead,
So it looks like 6" is out
...................what's the latest decision
,
And I could have gone lower, maybe 6", but 35's just won't cut it for me. How do they say, 4.5" should have gone 6", 6" should have gone 8",... Gotta go! Let u know how it turns out!

I believe I confused the issue (too many numbers).

The $1300 was the price difference between the 8" and 10.5" kits. If you started with an Edge 6" with rear springs, the upgrade to an 8" would mean swapping front springs and shocks. Both kits utilize the 5" rear springs. However the difference in kit prices in only $61 so I don't know that it is really worth starting out smaller if you know you are ultimately going with the 8". If you planned on eventually jumping up to the 10.5" then starting with the 6" sounds reasonable.
I have the 6" procrap lift.
It was on the truck when I bought it.
It is VERY rough riding.I have replaced the shocks with 5100s and lowered the tire pressure. It helped a little but not enough.
I live in Bakersfield and would like to give the local guy the bussiness so I called and talked to Full traction. FRom what I understand they make a pretty good product. There jeep stuff is VERy inovative. HOwever there support is horrible. They rattle off the standard sales line but almost get irritated if you want more in information. I will never buy a product from them. BTW is from more than just one encounter. I've made several phone calls and been to there shop.
On the other hand every single time I've called Donahoe they have been more than helpful. They even helped out when I didn't have their lift on my truck and was just looking for information. I even told them this up front.
I will be doing something here very shortly with my 2002 F250.
1. sell it and go another route
2. replce the 6" lift with with a 4.5" hanger lift
3. replce this lift with another one most likely an Edge kit. ( I will only do this after riding in a SD lifted with an edge lift to make sure it is not going to be one devil for the next)
I understand this a stout truck and should ride like a truck! I should NOT have to put on a kidney belt however whenever I get on the freeeway. One other note. I drive about 45 miles one to work. It is on the 99 freeway just norht of Bakersfield. It is kown as a very bad section a california freeway. IT is a infamous with the truckers.
Good luck with your decision and I would try and ride in a vehicle lifted with the lift you want before you spend the money. You'll be happy you did.
Here is a picture of my truck. It is now only single shocked in the front.

Edge dealers must adhere to minimum pricing so you will be offered similar prices from most shops. As such I suggest that you select a dealer with extensive product knowledge and a good reputation for customer service. Hope this helps.
Ok what dealers do you recomend. Like I said I WILL ride in one before I buy it. I need to find someone who has this lift semi local and get a ride.
Thanks

I've got plenty of trucks available for test drives but I'm in Texas.
There are several dealers in CA so give Donahoe a call and I'm sure he can make some recommendations.
