Are you referring to the second USB port on the back of the Sony 8" APIM in the dash?

Whitney,

The 2nd USB on the APIM, what function does it provide the dealer? The Ford Workshop Manual states to connect to the Media Hub to do any Sync programming of the APIM.

Since the 2nd USB is not readily accessible by anyone unless the screen/APIM is removed from the dash, does attaching to it cause any problems when not needed by dealer for some reason?

Please reach out to your dealer for clarification.

That doesn't help any Whitney. I see no problem if one wants to use the second USB port on the APIM for other uses as long as the radio will recognize the input. Will the radio recognize it as input such as music or video?

Whitney, How about contacting the engineers or designers and ask them the above question.

Thanks

Hey Larry,

I'm happy to dig in for you. Please send a PM with your VIN, name, email, address, and primary contact number: I'll get the ball roling.
