Here's a bonehead question: What's the procedure for installing a glove box? I've been without one for too long. I ordered a plastic box from JBG a couple of years ago, but they never got them in stock. I'll settle for the factory type. Please tell me I don't have to remove the dash board or front panel. Thanks, Guys.
If I remember right I slid my cardboard type up under the dash but I can't remember if I had my heater and fan assembly still under there at the time. I know it takes some patience and it's goes in at a weird angle but if you're careful you should be able to bend and pry a little at a time without ripping the cardboard. Good luck
A/C truck? Is sort of a PITA with less room, none a/c... a little less a PITA. lol Yes just carefully slide/slip/push/maneuver it up from under and behind the dash. Careful, because the pressed glove box dash hole on the dash can have some sharp edges. Especially the L and R short edge ones. Do you have a L/H side glove box light? Get it out of the way before hand. They come out easier than they go in.
Mine has A/C and they're easy to get in and out. Make sure you remove the limit strap cable, remove the uper latch. Go in at an angle with your right hand in first and then feed it through. It super easy.
Took door completely off.
Removed top latch.
Fed it through the front, then worked it into place once it went through. I wasn't going to try to go in from the back, it just didn't seem like it would go.
Had to give it some gentle nudges to get it to go through the opening.
I just installed my glovebox a few days ago. I did it from underneath on my A/C truck. It wasn't too hard to do. I did have to pull out the A/C duct to get the glovebox up in there. My A/C duct needed to be cleaned out before reassembly so that was part of the reason I did it that way. It was just a matter of getting the right angle in moving the glovebox around once I got it up in the right area and then getting the right angles on the A/C duct to get it to all fit where it should. I did have one under dash electrical connection I had to unhook and move out of the way while installing the glovebox. I'm not sure what it's for.
I just installed my cardboard glove box. Just for s&g's, I slid it in from the front and from the rear to see which is easier. It was easier from the front. Thanks, Guys!
Dammit! All those other guys gave me erroneous info. Your way would make it much easier to get that top left screw to thread up. Next time I'll PM you.
