I would like to see a topic specifically about the new 'E-Coat' and other paints/primers/prep work that goes into new F-series trucks.
If a topic is created, I would like to ask the following questions:
-What parts of the truck is the E-Coat applied to?
-Has the exterior paint increased in durability (not only against corrosion but also against body damage, scrapes, scratches, dents, etc) for the 2015-16 F150 and 2017 SD?
This question is a bit silly, and probably off topic, but since I own a Ford I thought I would ask it here.
When my wife and I are out jogging, we often wonder why truck exhausts are on the passenger side, and pointed towards the sidewalk. It seems like if they were on the driver's side, and pointed the other way, it would make life much nicer for pedestrians and cyclists. As it is now, every time a pickup goes by we have to breathe in the exhaust, and the noise is often ear splitting.
Actually, I think this is a hell of a question. Might take some research on the engineer's part, but now that your brought it up, I'd like to know.
Thanks for sticking in there Denny, we looped in our engineering team for SYNC on this one and here's what they had to say.
"Upgrades within SYNC generations are possible but not across generations. Customers can update SYNC 3 as new releases are issued by visiting owner.ford.com and downloading software to USB, visiting a dealer, or in the near future. Unfortunately, updating from SYNC 2 (AKA MyFord Touch) to SYNC 3 is not possible, since the hardware and screens running the systems are totally unique."
Let us know if and when you get to talk to your dealer about updating and if it's helpful or not. The updates to SYNC 3 have been significant and hopefully address many of the concerns folks have had, but if not let us know.
Just a update I downloaded the 3.8 update (the newest one) and it's a great improvement over what I had. The voice recognition is greatly improved along with the way you can input a address using voice into the nav system, I was actually able to input a address using voice and it knows the difference between Walmart and Hallmark.

Thats great because my Sync 2 no matter what I asked it always directed me to a hospital. Pizza, Gas stations, convenience stores but I always ended up at the hospital on the map.

I have a 1997 f150 lariat 4x4 4.6 automatic and I need a new GEM module I can not find one wit the right code F65B-14A067-AF
To simplify my question I'll stick with the f-350.
When ordering a new truck, how do I make sure I will get the 4 leaf and the overload vs. the 3 leaf and overload?
While I'm asking, what are the differences and capacities of the two?
Thanks.
I have a 72' F250 that I would like the front end raised approx. 2-3 inches. I know there is a kit that we can buy to do this but I can't afford ( or justify the $1000+ ) to get it.
I just don't like how it is raked. I know this is probably engineered in for load compensation but the heaviest thing this truck will ever carry in the back is some beach chairs, cooler, fishing gear, and sun tan lotion
I'd like some confirmation if the Ranger is actually going to be marketed in the US. There are plenty of stories online and rumors abound but no confirmation.

My truck: 2016 SD Lariat, 4WD Crew Cab, short bed, 6.2L gas, 3.73 axle ratio.
Tires: Toyo LT275/65R20 Country AT-II. Max load single 3750 lbs @ 80 psi
Ford's recommended pressure: 65 psi front, 65 psi rear
I'd like to start a discussion on tire pressures based on the load the truck is carrying. I started a post in the 5th wheel towing forum and the opinions are all over the place. ( Tire pressure vs load - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums )
I also contacted the tire manufacture on this ( Toyo ) and the response from them was C.Y.A. "Toyo Tires only offers recommendations based off of the vehicle manufacturer's approved pressures."
Basically, they are saying 65 psi is fine while running empty. If there's a 3,000 pound load sitting on the rear axle, 65 psi is also good. If that's true, I want to hear a Ford engineer back it up. If not, could you give us a guide as to the psi increase per thousand pounds of load on the rear or something similar.
Hi sorry if this is in the wrong place I'd like to know more about installing aftermarket flip down 20" monitors and if the aluminum roof can Handel the weight of a 20 inch monitor. Also would like to know if I void warranty by installing this myself and how to install if I don't void warranty.
2011 f250 super duty 2x..36K mile . . since new every once in while when stepping on the gas from a dead stop my truck will launce then (feels like) goes into neutral with no throttle response , forward motion, and everything stays on and engine at idle no matter how far I press the accelerator...for a split second .. then picks back up and is normal...when this happens I'm usually entering traffic and scares the hell out of me...been to the dealer 3 times and all they say is (We cant get it to duplicate it so there's nothing we can do) its happening more often....this can get me or someone else hurt...any ideas...Thanks
