Will there ever by a upgrade for the Sync system in my 2013 to a newer version that's a little more user friendly. The Microsoft system is a disaster to use.

Agreed on the cumbersome interface. You would think that a technology behemoth like Microsoft would be able to come up with a Voice Recognition system like Android phone: "Ok Google" works amazingly well on our Samsung phones.
I can say "Ok Google", "Navigate to Manassas Park Virginia" or a street address or "Lumber Liquidators" and within seconds have the route.
Even though I only have SYNC 2 on my 2016 SD, it's amazing how archaic the interface is.
But then again, Microsoft is the company that brings us such winners as DOS 4.0, Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, Windows 8.
I guess it's not such a big surprise the MS can't come up with a better VR interface.
Tranny fluid temperatures gets debated a lot on this forum and could use some clarification. I actually asked my service guy about "what's too hot" after a hot summer run last year and got flat out blown off.
So for the F-150 and SDs:
- What's normal expected operating tranny temps when towing?
- At what temperature does the fluid start to break down?
- Does the service range of the fluid (miles) degrade gradually as temp increases, or is there just a certain temp that once exceeded the fluid is done?

I know you read most of the threads so I will add this, this last two weeks we have been with other SD owners that have trucks equipped with Sync we all have the same opinion of it and it's not good. I believe you are in marketing so maybe it's time you put a bug in the engineers head that the system is unworkable for the normal person in its present form. Time for a major upgrade for free if you want to keep us happy. We are the ones that buy and use the product.
Thanks Denny for chiming in. We've shared with our SYNC team and they'll hopefully have an answer for you soon.

I'd like to suggest a different location/arrangement for the Tow/Sport shift program button.
The current location at the bottom of the shifter I find extremely awkward to use. I do tend to use it a fair amount, as part of my frequent driving is up/down windy mountain roads. I find the shift program in either tow or sport mode works much better when climbing a mountain road, as it moves the RPM up to ~~ 1500 RPM instead ~~ 1100 RPM, and climbing that next incline after coming out of a corner at low throttle works much better. I also sometimes just switch to manual mode, but just putting the tranny in tow mode works pretty much the way I need it.
I would like to suggest that the tow/sport/normal switch be changed to a rocker-type switch, and located on the right side of the shifter (opposite the +/- rocker switch). Probably in a recess or depression of some sort. Center position would be "normal", and clicking forward would put it in "sport" mode, clicking backward would put it in "tow" mode. This would allow me to switch into tow/sport mode using my pinky finger, and I wouldn't have to cycle through all 3 modes if I just wanted to use tow mode for a couple of miles.

Do you have a topic you’d like to discuss with the Engineers that isn’t currently being discussed? Share your ideas/questions/suggestions here and we will try to get them into future topic threads. Please remember the Rules of the Road when making suggestions.
This question is a bit silly, and probably off topic, but since I own a Ford I thought I would ask it here.
When my wife and I are out jogging, we often wonder why truck exhausts are on the passenger side, and pointed towards the sidewalk. It seems like if they were on the driver's side, and pointed the other way, it would make life much nicer for pedestrians and cyclists. As it is now, every time a pickup goes by we have to breathe in the exhaust, and the noise is often ear splitting.
Our apologies for the delay but our engineers needed had a good conversation around this question so thanks for asking. Here's their take:
"For the 6.2L Super Duty, trans temp will stabilize right around 210F, this is due to our thermo valve in the main control trying to regulate at this temperature.
The 6.7L P558 has “active warmup”, where the thermo valve has been removed from the circuit as well as the trans cooler being on the same cooling loop as engine coolant. Because of this change, the trans temp will run slightly higher than engine coolant. On warm days towing max loads, the trans could see trans temperatures near 240F.
Oil does not have any significant reduction in useful life over the temperature range we see in normal operation. If the fluid stays below 275 deg F (doesn’t set a MIL light for overtemp) then the normal fluid life would be expected."

Thanks for sticking in there Denny, we looped in our engineering team for SYNC on this one and here's what they had to say.
"Upgrades within SYNC generations are possible but not across generations. Customers can update SYNC 3 as new releases are issued by visiting owner.ford.com and downloading software to USB, visiting a dealer, or in the near future. Unfortunately, updating from SYNC 2 (AKA MyFord Touch) to SYNC 3 is not possible, since the hardware and screens running the systems are totally unique."
Let us know if and when you get to talk to your dealer about updating and if it's helpful or not. The updates to SYNC 3 have been significant and hopefully address many of the concerns folks have had, but if not let us know.

Just so you can pass this on to the engineers, I talked to a friend who has a 2015 F150 and the voice reconnection isn't much better than my 13. His biggest complaint is trying to make a call hands free when connected to a Android phone, it just will not recognize words.
Maybe it's time to go back to the drawing board and come up with something that will connect to our phones by Bluetooth and use the voice, Google maps and other apps from the phone, it's way ahead of what Ford is offering.
I will try the update but right now the truck is in storage until we are on the road again with the trailer sometime in August.

I really like this comment. Ford recently announced that it was shoving the MyFord Touch infotainment interface into a burlap sack with a bunch of rocks, tying that bag shut, and throwing it into the nearest lake. We were happy to hear the news, as the replacement, theÂ*Blackberry QNX-basedÂ*Sync 3, couldn’t possibly be worse.Â*
I would add that I use the nav system all the time and after you get past the odd way it has to be programmed (manually) it works pretty well, it's the voice that is terrible also there is no way I would spend $150 to upgrade the maps.
