Back in a V10 :)
I ended up buying a 08 F350 6.4 Diesel and doing all of the mods (H&S tuner, DPF delete etc...)to it to make it powerful and reliable. Great truck, loved the power and it was awesome to drive...the problem was I only put about 4K miles a year on it. It was just too much truck from a financial perspective to let sit in my drive way 80% of the time. I decided to sell it over the winter while I had nothing to tow and started to look for a new rig.
I ended up finding a 2005 F350 CCSB 4X4, 4.10's Lariat with 96K on the clock that is in real nice shape. I am sure it will need some TLC down the road but since I was able to pay cash for the truck I dont mind putting a few bucks into it if needed. I assume I will have to wrestle with the Exhaust manifold studs, ball joints and spark plug issues that I have read about here on the forum.
I never did get the 5th wheel and still have the same camper I started out with a 2007 Rockwood 8317SS 33ft long and a 8008GVWR. I have towed this camper with a 99 Burb 454, 04 Ex 2V V10, 08 F350 6.4 and soon to be the 05 F350 3V 10. I anticipate the new truck to tow somewhere between the Excursion and the 6.4 Diesel as far as power and stability is concerned.

Funny how things work out, I was all set to buy that F350 I mentioned above and even left a deposit on it. Last night my buddy texted me of a truck that just went up for sale that was local to me rather than 3.5 hours away. This one was a F250 Lariat V10 private owner with only 64K on it garage kept, not a spot of rust anywhere.
I went to look at it and made the guy what I consider a ridiculous offer, he accepted and I bought it on the spot! He was a 2 truck owner and wanted to downsize as this one was not being used, he also said he didn't want to deal with anymore CL people and I was there with cash so he took the deal.
I have updated my sig but now I am the owner of a 2006 F250 Lariat Ex Cab long bed with only 64k in mint condition. I am super excited, although red is not my color of choice.

My only regrets may be that this one is an extra cab instead of crew and it does not have the built in brake controller. The extra cab is not that big of a deal because it is usually just me & the dog when towing and the wife and daughter meet me at the campground later. In the even we all need to go in the truck it is doable with the split rear bench seat. The factory brake controller I will miss but I will buy a prodigy P3 and I am sure it will be fine for my limited use. For the price and the fact it is so clean I could not pass it up for those 2 concerns.
Thanks
