No Pickup truck since 1992. Want an F250/F350 V10 4x4 for occasional spare vehicle, hauling use and Slide in camper. Convinced over the last year of research that a V-10 will do it. (Won't use it enough for diesel) settled on 2008-2010 SC/LB.
Problem? My buddy at work wants to quick-sell me his 2011 F-350 XL 6.2 gas 4x4, Regular Cab with 17,000 well-babied miles. He want's $25K which I know is top rate for KBB and NADA, but he is so desperate to pay it off, he's throwing in his 2007 Lance 815 Truck Camper (Very Good Shape with A/C Awnings etc..).....I have driven this thing both unloaded (awesome but bouncy) and loaded with the camper. It seems like a strong truck and has no ticks or creaks anywhere. Should I forget the V-10?
Awesome replies folks! I guess the V-10 was more of a "want" than a need.
Sixteen spark plugs!?!? OK I'll live with that I guess. Does that mean 16 COP's too?
What about the configuration? Will I regret not getting a SC later? I don't think there is much I couldn't do with this truck, right? BTW does the drivetrain warranty transfer with ownership?
I have both trucks. My personal truck is the 6.8 and a camper lives on it. My work truck is the 6.2. Buy that 6.2 with the sweet camper. It will haul the camper just fine but will rev more doing it.
You'll miss the supercab. I've heard nothing but great things about the 6.2 and the camper package makes it a better deal, but get what you want. An 08 v10 sc/lb is that.
I owned a v10 and drove a 6.2, and the 6.2 is a rock star of an engine - I thought the V10 was a slug (at high elevations, towing). The 6.2 sounds like it wants to party, which is nice. In your case, the lack of a supercab will bug you more than engine choice. At least get a 3v v10, if you go that route.
That camper would be very nice PROVIDED you have a frequent use for it. If not, trying to sell it for decent $ could be tough, as everyone wants a steal (or they'll pass). I'm guilty of such logic - unless its something I really Really want.
