I have a '96 E4OD trans in my F-150. Lately it has started messing up a bit. Sometimes, in taking off, it doesn't want to shift, and then when it does, it slams hard into the next gear. It will also suddenly drop into neutral for a few seconds, and then back into gear.
This happens intermittently, but lately more frequent. I have noticed that when it does it, that the overdrive light on the shift lever that indicates the overdrive lock out is engaged is flashing on and off.
Has anyone else experienced this situation, or have any idea what is going on with the E4OD when it is acting this way?
Hook your old mpls to your ohm meter and check the resistance at each setting. If it checks out good, reinstall it. Something went wrong with your new installation so it's time to go back to the original mlps.
