Replacement Turbo

I think I'm at the point of needing a new turbo. About a year ago I took it apart and cleaned the unison ring but everything looked kinda ugly in there(rust mainly), and now the truck basically has little to no boost off the line. I have a 100$ amazon gift card and get 3% points with a credit card I got and was thinking of getting this one. Whats everyone think?

Why not rebuild yours? That rust can easily be removed with this product




Heres some pics of a gtp38 out of a 7.3 this was all done with the product above, no scrubbing, just dip it in a pan and let it do its work.

Also check spturboost.com quality stuff at low price. Any Q talk to Kevin he knows turbos.

try cleaning the EBP, MAP, and EGR sensors. Get any codes, say P0299?

Freakify, that stuff works great for rust. I also use Qurox here at work.
I would also add however it won't cure pitting obviously.

Unfortunately when pitting occures theres no reversing it.

I have a good turbo, less than 10k miles, brand new Garrett. Has the updated mount pattern, 2 horizontal and the rear vertical.

Just remember theres 3 types of turbos for the 6.0, 03(The Jet turbine)and early 04, 04-05 early model year wich had a smaller compressor wheel, and the 05-07 which were the upgraded versions of the early years (bigger compressor wheel) these are based on trucks not vans and were on our fleet. You might hve to check yours closely if you decide to buy another turbo

Thanks for the replys guys. I'm pretty sure its gonna need replacement, I have no check engine lights(I've checked with a scan tool). Again when I took it apart it didn't look to good in there...a lot of rust. I cleaned it up a lot so that it could at least function, but I just don't think its cycling like it should. On my CTS the VGT% stays around 50-60% and doesn't usually change much.


Also my truck is a late model 04. I'll actually have to take a look at the turbo to see exactly which one I have...
