Does the rear part of your front console have pull out cup holders ?
I dig the rear console, that would be my choice if I didn't have the ARB
There is a plastic molded cup holder that I needed to take it out to get to the fasteners.
Now I just hope I can get all the mounting plates to work on the Ex. It should be an interesting puzzle.
On a side note, I really like how yours has the cup holder in the back.
The one I scored does not have this, instead there are climate control switches and an audio plate for the built in entertainment system... I am going to have to get creative with these spaces
The location of those climate control switches in the front would be perfect for some rocker switches for additional driving lights or what not. Just make a new mounting panel.
I'd swap you for one of the other styles of top bin if you were closer but i am sure they are just as plentiful in your area.
Did you have all the nessasary tools on hand for the job ?
I did, thank you for the heads up! I was still amazed that there were so many types and sizes of fasteners. You would think they would stick to one or two, instead of the whole hardware store!
I am already looking to add power ports to the different panels. Do you have links to the ones you are using?
I can't vouch for the chi-com switches quality as all mine are authentic carlings but if I didn't have a heap of carlings already I would certainly give the chi-coms a shot at that price.
I am a freak about my sound system and don't want to chance creating any ground loop noise ( humm ) so i also run all my grounds to the negative Batt terminal
edit....not that it matters what I have but I am just using a el cheapo 400 watt inverter I picked up at the swap meet for $5, it powers electronics and what not just fine.
if I wanted to run a coffee pot or some power tools I would need to upgrade.
The factory mounting plates for that console are not going to line up with the bolt holes in the excursion.
You can make the process both factory like and easy on yourself by using Blind rivet nuts. from memory I am going to say the mounts use a m8 bolt to attach to the floor, (check them, they will have a 10mm head)
It occurred to me some folks might not be familiar with nutcerts, rivnuts, blind nuts or whatever you want to call them so here is a quick video showing how to install them easily with out a special tool.
