Hey there blackpheniox and welcome to the Forum!
Pos. side of the cable to the starter or to the relay? If you installed the cables onto the relay wrong, You've fried everything. The cables, relay and starter need replacing.
I don't know what size engine you have, or where- abouts the starter is located. If the cable is close enough to the exhaust system to melt the insulation, could've shorted out.
If you did some off roading recently, the bouncing around, will sometimes loosen up the cells in the battery and weld the cells together causing a short as well.
I would look around and check out the free stuff first. Take it somewhere and have the battery-to-the-starter checked.
Get back to us with what you find out. We'll talk with you later....

the truck was running fine tell I cam over a speed bump. it did fall dead. when I looked under the hood noticed the battery was hot. left it to cool in the shade came back a couple of hours later and it restarted drove it around to my apartment about 600 feet and noticed it would not start looked under the hood and saw the pos connector had melted from the battery and the cable inulation was melted where the connector and cable met. did not reconect another connector was wondering if it could be the starter, battery or the silinoid.

Hey there! Do you have access to another battery? You'll have to pick up a new pos cable anyway. Try the other battery with a new cable. Since it was a "bump", I would lean towards the battery being the problem. Probably the 2 or more cells grounding to each other. Thanks for getting back to us buddy!!!

thanks loads guys was the altanator went crazy put new one in after sears tested it and she lives SHE LIVES I am soooooooo happy my baby lives again thanks loads

the cause was due to the battery coming loose and shorting to the frame. the analizer found the bad altanator. only 9.99 for the test and I put the new alt in and she came to life total of 90.00 for the whole fix. thanks again guys. any one know where to get other cosmetic parts for her now
