Thoughts on noise needed
i finally got a chance to change my up pipes.
after i got it started and ran for a few minutes i hear what i think is a knock i never heard before.
i didn't pay attention for any noise's before i did the work and don't know if it was there before.
it comes and gos and is not constant. at times it gets loud. it's only on the right side of the motor and is loudest around the valve cover area.
they are dorman up pipes and i did also install some of clays plenum inserts and i know i didn't drop anything down the cover.
it kinda sounds like your tapping on the bottom of a glass bottle with a spoon or the turbo flap on the exhaust side rattling but i checked and it is hooked up.. or something like that.
sometimes has a sound kinda like a loose mount rattling on the exhaust pipe but in my opinion it sounds like its in tune with a compression stroke of one cylinder and and kinda consistent like that
I know that sounds weird but i don't know exactly how to describe it.
i will re check everything tomorrow when it cools down but i feel confident i didn't miss anything.
168000 7.3 stock motor 6637 air filter with dp tuner on stock settings 4" turbo back exhaust.
Any thoughts about what i shoulod look for ?
I am almost thinking to pull the valve cover just to check everything inside.
You can now hear the solenoids activating and you have one loud one, or it's remotely possible you have one loose injector. The loose injector symptoms that have the "tink" joining in on the harmony are banging, smoke, and an elevated IPR at idle. If the tink is all you have and the truck is otherwise running fine, welcome to the wonderful world of a quieter engine - you can now hear the imperfections in the injectors.
I do still have that sequel that sounds like a vacuum leak, only after the first start of the day and only for about a minute or so when the boost gets to around 10psi. then its gone for the day ?? i thought i had fixed that because of a cracked boost gauge vacuum line.
I will have to use that boost leak detector trey built for me again this next week when i get some time
I thought for sure it was the upp's leaking that was causing the high pitched squeal/scream.
all the boots and cooler tubs are good with no holes.. i checked for that while they were off and another reason i installed the plenum inserts
I haven't loaded AE on my new computer yet and to be honest.. I forgot i had it up until now.. LOL..
