It's my turn. Going to DMV today to register the 5th wheel. I have no idea how much time it will be, but not a choice. Going to New Britain, hope that's not a mistake.
Good luck at the DMV John. I went to the DMV in Wethersfield once and couldn't believe it. Most other states, Minnesota included, have smaller DMV offices all over the state. There's one about fifteen minutes from me that has three clerks at the counter and that's it. Went there once when I sold a car and was in and out in about fifteen minutes. Not sure why Connecticut makes things any more difficult than that.
We were in line around the corner of the building at 10 minutes to 8. At 8 the doors opened and we were in in about 10 minutes and up to the front desk. 5 minutes there and then had to wait for our number to be called. 3 people in front of us and within 4 minutes our number was called. This was great up to here. Then 1 hour and a 1/2 for the woman to get the info into the computer. It would ether reject the entry or as for more information. After that we walked out with our new plates for the 5th wheel and turned in our old plates for the Zinger. It cost us about $1800 sales tax. Not to bad for CT. We are happy it's done.
If you don't like the DMV in CT, do not move to CO. I remember people regularly getting a number and coming back hours later, to still wait at least an hour at some of the main offices. Which is typically where you had to go.
I got through there pretty quick until the actual work on the computer. It wasn't the crowd or staff. It was just a bad computer system that the state implemented. Just waste of our tax dollars as they normally do. The staff thinks this is it and the way it will continue to be. Bought and sold it is over.
Went to Camping world in Kingston, NY yesterday afternoon. Had to pick up some things like 30 to 50 amp plug, tire covers to fit the new wheels, various small items that we wanted. $350 later. Boy it adds up fast.
Afternoon all. Finished putting in my winter weight, only 800# this year compared to the usual 1200#. Supposedly I only need 500# to counterweight the plow in this new truck.
