Good morning everyone!

I hear she's doing well Andy, but I'm not down there at the moment. My wife spent the night, and I went home to help out with our two sons. I'll know more in a few hours.

Indoor projects today.

Definitely not out here! -4° at the moment with a brutal windchill. We will also be staying indoors.

Had something interesting happen last night, one of the lights above the stove started leaking water. Not sure how that could happen with all the cold weather, but I climbed into the attic and found some ice crystals on the insulation.

Morning

Not to bad out there. Sunny and a little chill in the air.

Tom, sounds like a leak to me. some how snow or ice is getting in and then melting, then running down a electric wire. I would check the roof for a ice dam.

Good morning guys.

Tom I have heard of air leaking up into the unit passed the damper and condensating and then looking like a leak.

We went through that with our house in Union, so I know what you're talking about. I'll take a look, but I don't think there's been any melting on the roof at all. Certainly not right now, we're about 45 degrees colder than you guys at the moment.

Interesting, never heard something like that but it makes sense. The ice crystals I found in the attic were on top of the insulation though, and I don't think it would wick through about 12" of blown-in insulation. My landlord is coming over this afternoon to check out some window sealing issues we're having, so I'll have him take a look. He's in construction, so this is more his department than mine.

Is there a vapor barrier underneath the blown-in insulation? Humidity from inside that house will rise up into the attic (and in your climate ..., freeze). In really bad cases, the blown-insulation can actually become sodden with moisture.

Also, dooes the attic have sufficient ventilation? If it's only got those small gable vents, then probably not, and moisture can/will build up in the attic even if there is vapor barrier.

Hey guys, hope everybody had a nice weekend. I took the truck up to Nepaug state forest today to stretch its legs. Met up with a buddy in his Toyota Tacoma. The big 350 kept up pretty well, though I had to get creative at times. The front and rear sway bars were very noticeable in my truck. LOTS of frame flex due to the already stiff suspension being held stiffer by sway bars. Came out seemingly unscathed though.

Went had to go to the Berkshire's this afternoon. Before I left I filled the trucks diesel tank at the Citco on Middle St, Bristol $1.799 Yes one dollar and seventy nine cents.

Cheaper than gas. Haven't seen that in many years.

Good morning guys.

Looks like it is slick on the roads. Be safe.

Tom the air will leak up on the inside of the duct work and then condensate and drip down from the vent itself sometimes. That is why the duct needs to be wrapped in insulation.
