I am removing my 7.3,do I have to remove the turbo or can I just disconnect the down pipe. Also what is the easiest way to undo the motor mounts?

just disconnect the down pipe. granted removing the turbo would give you more wiggle room, but it does not have to come off.
for motor mounts, just unbolt them from underneath

good the turbo dosen't have to come off. I spent 4 hrs trying to getting that ******* off. the motor mount bolts are the 2 bolts 1 on each side of the crossmember per side.

Two studs on each side with nuts on the bottom. You have to get to them from under the motor mount.

The two with the nuts on the underside of the crossmember? I took the two bolts out that looked like they separated the top of the mount from the bottom .guess I messed up.anyone got a picture?

I think either way will work. I just thought it easier to remove the nuts from the studs like Bill said

I would agree. You can't really see what your doing but you can see them before you get the socket and your arm up there
