TRYING TO REMOVE TURBO ON 99.5 PSD, I HAVE REMOVED EVERYTHING I CAN SEE INCLUDING 2 PEDESTAL BOLTS, COLLECTOR PIPE AND DOWNPIPE. TURBO WONT BUDGE..... TRYING TO INSTALL WICKED WHEEL BUT NOT HAVING VERY GOOD TIME. COULDN'T USE THE SHORTCUT BECAUSE MY COMPRESSOR HOUSING HAS 4 BOLTS INSTEAD OF 5 AND ONE IS LOCATED AT 6 O'CLOCK AND I CANT GET ANYTHING ON IT... ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED..........
Removed V Clamp From Y Pipe, Downpipe And Collector. Removed The Two Pedastal Bolts, Have Not Done Anything With The Ebv Stuff. Do I Need To Remove This? Also The Directions For The Ww Intstall Say To Slide A C Clip That Is Under The Turbo Housing.. I Don't See It. Calming Down Due To The Fact I Am Not Laying Across The Motor Right Now.... :-x21
The clip they refer to is at the end of the EBV rod, it exits the passenger side of the pedestal and hooks to the turbo underneath the housing. It is difficult to see if the intercooler tubes have not been completely removed.
Are the clamps for the downpipe and exhaust collector completely removed or did you just pull the nuts off of them?
The Downpipe Clamp Is Completely Removed. The Collector Clamp Is At Lease Half Off. The Upper 2 Retainers Have Popped Free, Not For Sure If The Lower To Have Popped Free Yet, Not Much Fun Popping The Clamps Free After About 5 Years Of Service. Still Unclear About The Ebv Stuff. What Do I Need To Do? Just Slide It Or Do I Need To Remove Something?

That is most likely your hold up. Soak that dude down with some WD and give it about 30 minutes before you try again. Might also try to reach it with a long prybar and give it a little rap with a hammer.
Sometimes you can grab either end of the turbo and rock it back and forth to get it to pop too.

Assuming you found the rod, just slide the clip backwards (towards the pedestal), and drop the rod straight down to release it from the Exhaust backpressure valve stud.
Sweet. If you remove the seven bolts that hold the EBV housing to the exhaust housing you can put a socket on the exhaust wheel and leave nearly 0 chance of messing up the shaft/bearings/wheels.
Also if you don't live in a really cold environment now is a good time to gut the EBV.
Why gut the EBPV? I remember you posting something about this recently I thought, but didn't save the link. Right now I live in Fla., but want to move to Az. ( still hot ) but what about if I go to colder climates to ski, etc?

It won't be any problem at all. All that vale does is help the engine warm up faster, and we're only talking about a matter of 4-5 minutes difference before it's up to operating temperature. The high idle function is controlled by the PCM, and will function the same weather the EBV is there or not.
I've been in sub zero temps several times without the valve, it really is not a problem, just takes the heater a few extra minutes to start blowing hot.
I will be happy to put together a step by step for removing the turbo (and everything else that has to be removed first). I have never pulled a turbo before so the process was slow. I had some directions but they were pretty vague and left alot up to the imagination. From start to finish took me about 6 hours, all work was done in the driveway with reg. hand tools. Will take me a few days to put the steps in wriiting but glad to do it. Wicked wheel sounds great by the way.
Installed the Wicked Wheel, (as you know, and thanks!) While I had the turbo out, I took your advice and gutted the EBV. Always wanted to do that mod, just never really wanted to tear into it just for that.
Anyway ,after I removed the turbo I also discovered a slight oil leak coming out of the pedestal base so I will be replacing the "O" rings today before re-assembly.
I agree with previous posts that a new 'tutorial" should be put together for Wicked Wheel and EBV removal and modifications.
I referred to 3 different instruction sheets to guide me through the Wicked Wheel replacement and they were mostly for pre-99 PSD' which led me astray a few times during the tear down.
Anyway, I took pictures, wrote down wrench and tool requirments, etc. and plan on putting together a "how to" installation sheet with pictures, for 99-03 PSD's.
One note, I was unable to use a socket on both ends of the shaft as the exhaust end of the shaft did not have a head, it was just a round tapered shaft. Had to use a Vise Grip to lock the shaft so I could remove the stock compressor wheel.
Anyway, my .02 worth and thanks Cookie88 for your help and advice!
