Was there a reason why you raised it the one inch? Or was it just for the support of the floor

Bobby

Bobby, Did you build a sub frame?

Even thou I like the wood, I have to say you did a very nice job and I like it a lot. I am considering a new project vehicle in the near future and just might go the same way after see how nice it turned out.

I put the frame on top for a couple of reasons.

After I flipped the rear leafs the rear end center section was close to the bottom of the bed. So adding an inch of clearance helped.

It was also easier to install. I didn't have to hold it up underneath, just had to lay it on top and bolt it down.

Yeah, I like the wood too but every time I put something is the bed I would have to worry about scratching it. Scratched wood just doesnt look good...

will do. I have a 70 ford f100 that I'm using for parts on my 49 f1. "motor, trans, rearend etc ". It's a long wide bed. Plenty wide and long to cut down for the 49.

and again that looks great....

I also like seeing all of the ideas and engineering that happens on this site. I have to give credit to the FTE members who share their ideas and projects. Keep them coming!

I have learned so much from this site that it allows me to do things like this. I really appreciate everyone who shares the details and how to's. Hopefully I can help someone with their project too.

Great job on your bed floor and the extender- Good thinking!! I saw your replies to another thread about fuel tank location, I like your tank and filler also!! I don't want to have the filler in the bed as most do. Does it fill ok? It looks like you may have to fill it slowly with that tight 90 elbow, but is it ok or very hard to fill? Thanks Greg.

Not sure how I missed this thread. That looks real nice. Cool idea with the bed extender. The metal bed with the bedliner looks much better than I would have thought. Nice job. I dig it.

Thanks! When I first installed it I had a little trouble filling it. I had a hard 90 at the the top of the fill tube also. I changed it to a metal fill tube with a 60 degree bend at the top and added a 3/8" vent tube from the top of the tank up to the top of the fill tube.

The thread can be found here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...as-filler.html
