DT Ron uses a chisel on an air hammer, I lost a little respect for him when I saw that.
Actually the easiest way to get it off, there is a small trick to it, don't go directly at it, just the edge.... all of about 3 seconds and it's loose. I actually tried to get the clutch fan off my daughters car by hand, not very easy and I had the correct tool. Watching Ron's video saved me the price of the tool and a bunch of time.

One question on that---do you have to use one of the 18" chisels or can you reach in good enough with a regular length bit?
Just replaced my WP today. The tech folder had a helpful "how to" on the whole process. The fan clutch was by far the hardest part. FYI, the WP bolts take 17 ft-lbs of torque.

Yep fan clutch is my only worry so far. On this particular fix that is lol.
Water pump is on. Hardest part really was getting the fan clutch back on. Getting that booger lined up to get it stsrted. I didn't want to wait on my tool so I used my air hammer. My chisel was only like 3 inches so it was hard tp get set right but worked like a charm. I took some skin off the nut but oh well. Tool will be in tomorrow so I'll see if it will tighten up a bit more then button her up. It's funny as the leak was very small. Only way I could tell looking at the pump was some wet black stuff around one small part of the freeze plug and didn't leak when cool or engine running. Only leaked when at temp and not running. Glad to have it done.
go hand tight on the clutch nut... its left threaded so the direction of turn will keep it tight, not loosen it, makes it easier to get off next time.
That's what I got to thinking about. Just picked up the tool so if anyone needs help I need to make some money back lol. I do suspect I'll be changing tge waterpump again sooner than 160k since the one I put on isn't oem but it whould get me past this rush.
Put about 1/4 turn on the fan clutch nut with the tool so I feel better about it.
Got everything buttoned up filled with coolant and leak checked. All was good. Two things I noticed and am thinking. One was when I took the cap off to drain it still had all pressure in it and that's after 12 days?? Would that be any indication of something good or bad? Second thing I noticed was it took forever for tit to blow hot air. Even after the tstat opened it took a bit. One thought I had is that my water pump has been going out fpr a good while which was causing my slight puke by having the hot spots causing the puke and of course i know the pump was the cause of my lack of hest at idle which was intermittent as far back as this last spring. Do ya'll think my logic is correct on these points?
I can let mine sit foa days and take the cap off and get a hiss.
The heat issue may be an air bobble that is trapped. It may take
a few heat and cool cycles to clear it or get a vacuum fill kit like
the Rad-Vac. I got one for a present some time ago and I love it.
