It does look like more trouble that it's worth, I died laughing at that hose attachment segment at the beginning and expected the hose to fall off midway through the drain. I'm sure it's not any easier when it's cold out either. When I had my big truck I had a water heater valve attached (the hole was in the side of the pan, not the bottom) and it was a dream come true. But then I was talking about 11 gallon oil changes and there is no bucket that big.
There is a little retaing spring on them that is a PIA too. Can't remove it by hand, needs channel locks or similar, and it has a lot of tension and will frequently come shooting off when trying to remove or re-install and go God knows where...I hung on to mine, but I just did my second oil change without it, and I do not miss it at all.
Well I just changed my oil and witched to the T6. I installed the Fumoto valve as well. I didn't see these posts but I figure if it doesn't leak I'll leave it on. It will start getting cold here again in Iowa starting tonight so will keep my fingers crossed.
The T6 should make quite a little bit of difference in the morning, I hope you ran the engine for a few minutes after the oil change just to get the syn oil all thru the oil system, esp the injectors.
I actually prefer the slightly slower drain of oil and the ability to shut it off with no mess involved. I bought the version with no hose attachment in order to keep ground clearance as high as possible. I like the product and plan to have one on all of my vehicles where it is feasible. Not every product is meant for everyone to use, but that is OK.
I agree with cj45lc and think you will be happy with the T6.
Subscribed.. My son lives and goes to College in Iowa, he too has had trouble lately with his PS. He recently discovered that the ICP sensor is bad and full of oil. So at this point he's waiting to receive the icp sensor and install it. Hopefully this will remedy his starting issues. Keep us posted. Might have to change out the Oil also to Syn 5-40.
I meant to take a picture of the valve installed on the truck but I must have forgotten. I'll take when tonight and post.
I got the old filter off without too much trouble. Poking the hole in the bottom was a very good idea. I am pretty sure that thing was full and just waiting to dump all over me if I hadn't done that. After I filled the fluid I did let the truck run for a few minutes and rechecked the level. I had to add about a quart. Before I leave work today I'll check it again just to be sure.
Might just be me but it did seem like it was quieter today. The temps will start falling again starting today so I will have some good "cold test" days coming up.

Mine seems to purr a little better too but like you said, could be my imagination since I didn't test it with a decimeter before and after.
Ive been running t6 for a coupe of years. Love it. Noticed my motor was quieter also.
My truck starts right up down to about 0 without plugging in. Even if it sits a couple of weeks. A bit of smoke for a couple of minutes but I have a deleted pedestal.
Below 0 -10 I will cycle the glow plugs 2x and she starts right up. Still not plugged in.
-10 or lower I will plug it in.
i have started to plug my 02 in under 30 degrees. the starter is tired, and it needs injectors so it complains if it has to "cold start".
plug it in for 2 hours and it fires rite off though.
Today is a good day to test. Sitting in the work parking lot for 9 hours and the high today is -5 degrees. Luckily no kids in school today so if it doesn't start I just have to wait for my wife to get off work.

Congratulations on getting that tackled. Mine begrudgingly started for me at 19* this AM but it took two rounds with glow plugs and a second attempt. Mine does not crank for long before the batteries start to drop off. Batteries seem to be ok I suspect the starter is not spinning as fast as it should.
