Shocks

I have a 1991 f250 2wd. It needs new shocks badly. I don't do any off road and twice a week I carry a super small load in the bed (maybe 500 pounds at most). Other than that it is just used on the road and high way.

I am looking for a real smooth ride and not stiff.

Bilstein, kyb, Monroe????

Thanks

Bilstein will likely give you the smoothest ride. I have KYB Monomax shocks and like them a lot, but they ride real stiff.

I am leaning towards the bilsteins. I've heard good things about Ranchos as well. I will have to look into them more.

I have off brand off-road shocks in mine, love them. Theyre 70/30 vs most are 50/50, stiff rebound, loose compression, maybe not the best for a 2wd though?

I have the Bilstein HD monotubes and they are GREAT.

I have the F250 4x4 extended cab long bed so it's pretty heavy, but these shocks are great for any type of driving. I don't off road very much at all, mostly on-road for me.
This is a great upgrade!

so i decided to order the bilstein shocks. i received the rear shocks today and i will be getting the front shocks delivered in a couple days. (why they sent me two separate packages...idk...)

i put the rear shocks on and boy that made a HUGE difference considering i would feel the most difference from the front shocks..i'm super excited to get the front shocks on and i will update when i do!!

thanks again!!!

^^^^^^^ A lot of sellers/retailers have multiple warehouses, which would explain the two separate shipments.

No surprise you're pleased so far; we put Bilsteins on both our 4x4 PSDs, and are really happy with them. Capable off-road, assuring control in the snow, and smoooove comfy on the Interstate.

I have been told they perform well off road and I'm super excited to take them for a spin on the freeway with all 4 shocks!!

Heck yeah! Let us know how you like it when they come in. My rear bolts were put in by some amateur and they used terribly small hardware that smashed around inside the axle holes... Had to cut those bolts off and weld big fat washers over the stock holes, 4-5 years later still going strong. So are the shocks!

Sorry for the story but I guess I said all that cause I bought all 4 shocks more for the rear than for the fronts, so I hear you on how much nicer the ride is on the rears. BUT I think you'll be even more stoked when the fronts get in, too.
