Back in Minneysoda for a visit with relatives, guy comes out of liquor store (yes, that was where we were headed!!) and asks what kind of mileage. I tell him "42 pulling my trailer!!" His eyes widen up, and he stutters "really, wow!!" I actually let him walk away without correcting my "error".

Couple of weeks ago, came out of store and gal is staring at the front of Ex, and asks what it was!!! Says she had never seen anything so big!!

I like telling them they'll need three prius' to haul the people. 2 more to haul the stuff. And how they will get the camper there I have no idea. Probably a push on who gets better gas mileage at that point. At work they call it the manivan.

i just ask those people how they think their prius' got to the dealer's lot. they certainly weren't hauled there on another prius. they usually don't have a response at that point.

Its easy to shut up Prius owners in CA.

I have been accosted by several of them in the grocery store parking lot. It starts with the same smug why do you need such a big truck type comment. Well ma'm, it gets 22 mpg and hauls my family of 7 safely, then I ask them hey, since we are in a severe drought and I am prohibited from watering my landscape I have to ask, do you know how many of California's rivers have a hydroelectric dam on it that has obliterated the natural fish habitats ? Entered puzzled look. So I tell them all of them are damned up and do you know why ? Because that is where CA gets the majority of its power. But since we are in a drought and our resiviors are dry why are you driving that electric vehicle ? We can't even let farmers water their crops and you are out driving your car that is powered by a hydroelectric dam ? We have far more oil available then we do fresh water. The last time some tree hugger tried to shame me she stomped off muttering something about A hole.... LOL

Edit.... For those that don't know, San Francisco - Sacramento is the epicenter of the tree hugging prisus universe. They are zealots

It's cute that you folks are trying to use facts, logic, and reason with a bunch of completely bat****** crazy nutcases.

You need to avoid them if at all possible.

I've had my Ex since new, almost 11 years now. I once had a Prius owner comment that I should be "driving something more environmentally smart...like a hybird".

My response? "It IS a hybrid...it runs on gas and air". They were amazed that something that big could be a hybrid.

most people who drive prius' and cars alike are people that can't even change a lightbulb or turn a screw driver, so they never would have use for a pickup truck or big SUV or towing. because they are stupid. lol

While I'd love to agree, I know a bunch of gearheads that drive second hand hybrids purely to save on fuel costs.

It is very, very weird seeing a hybrid in the driveway and an 8-second street legal drag car in the garage.

I get asked if I want to sell it about once a month. Haven't had anyone try to shame me yet, because when I pull into the parking lot 5 kids fall out the doors They can see right away why we have it.

Used to get more questions when gas was $5, but now it's 1/2 price, no one cares. If I recall well, it was $1.29 in 2/2000 when we bought it.

Last year got asked by a few guys in suburbans if I'd sell the 00 X. The 02 X has been known to roll a little coal on more than one prius.
