Filling up Urea (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) and having the Selective Catalyst Reduction regenerate all the time.
Besides eight is too many cylinders.
What's the towing capacity on a Prius?
I have towed with a Honda Civic. I have transported engines and transmissions and axles in a Honda Civic. I blew all four shocks and toasted the clutch. No Bueno.
Hell, I even towed cars on a 2 wheeled dolly behind a 1989 Mazda B2600i 4x4 (Ranger sized truck). 2800 lbs of car on a 400 lb dolly behind a 3200 lb truck is how you spell jackknife.
i have an 06 scion xB that i drive probably 50% of the time, great mpg, very spacious and comfortable inside imo, and get this, i do tow a 4x8 trailer with it. Someone mentioned drywall...ive hauled numerous sheets of drywall and wood on the roof and in a trailer, definitely more than the little transmission and suspension can handle, but she's got 160k on it and she never lets me down! This was the heaviest load I've hauled in the scion, before i had the hitch on it, i had me my dad and my cousin (probably 600lbs) and a TON of tile. I mean a lot. It was very sluggish and hard to brake, but i drove slow and like i said, i abuse the crap out of this car and she keeps going. Not so much anymore that i have a f350 dually. I had my excursion before but i keep it clean so i dont haul with it unless its a trailer.

So yea definitely can't hate on a good MPG daily, but at least get one that is still functional, a prius could never do the stuff my scion does lol
I have been accosted by several of them in the grocery store parking lot. It starts with the same smug why do you need such a big truck type comment. Well ma'm, it gets 22 mpg and hauls my family of 7 safely, then I ask them hey, since we are in a severe drought and I am prohibited from watering my landscape I have to ask, do you know how many of California's rivers have a hydroelectric dam on it that has obliterated the natural fish habitats ? Entered puzzled look. So I tell them all of them are damned up and do you know why ? Because that is where CA gets the majority of its power. But since we are in a drought and our resiviors are dry why are you driving that electric vehicle ? We can't even let farmers water their crops and you are out driving your car that is powered by a hydroelectric dam ? We have far more oil available then we do fresh water. The last time some tree hugger tried to shame me she stomped off muttering something about A hole.... LOL
Edit.... For those that don't know, San Francisco - Sacramento is the epicenter of the tree hugging prisus universe. They are zealots
Most frequent questions for me:
1. What is that?
- These people can't read the badges on the back and side, so I speak slowly when I reply
2. What size tank does that have?
- Very popular question when gas is over $3.50 a gallon, and very popular with people who are impatient that it takes me the same amount of time that two other cars do to fill up
3. What do you do with that?
- They see the lights and antennas - these are usually the opposite of the ones who ask question #1
I've had one person try to start a conversation with me about why I need it.
My reply:
"I use it for search and rescue, and I'm on call 24x7. When you show me a 4x4 electric or hybrid that has this ground clearance, can haul 5 full grown men along with their associated gear, and that can tow 10,000lbs, you just give me a call."
I don't get those comments either. Funny how size does matter!

EDIT: Ugh... 6000 lb towing capacity. F that.

There is nothing wrong with a Prius...just most PRIOUS owners.

I have a 94 Civic, 315k miles, original clutch, can hall an 8ft step ladder, all doors closed.
The only Excursion comments I have gotten involve amazement at how much gas it holds. Never negative.
They turn around (now matter what row they are in: 1st, 2nd, 3rd) and say WOW look at all the room back there. 10 folks from work went to lunch, 4 in a small eco-box, and 6 in my Excursion. The 3 passengers from the eco-box wanted to swap vehicles on the ride home..

The best comments were from 3 guys tying lumber on to the cab and bed of their full-size pickup (it was pouring out) and we were all loading up under the covered loading dock at HomeDepot... as I put 10ft long (and I think a few 12 ft long) 2-by lumber and a dozen sheets of plywood INSIDE and closed the door..
