I was just wondering if anybody else gets asked the same questions I do; 1) does Ford still make Excursions? 2) why did Ford quit building them? I've owned my Ex since September and average at least 2 times a week being asked these questions. I personally think the Excursion is a vehicle that still has a purpose today and would still sell. I bought mine to move lots of people and pull my camper ( 6 people at least and 36' camper ) and it does this very well and it is also my daily driver.
I'll be first in line if they ever bring it back to production!
While I would LOVE a factory new Ex, I would not want all of the infotainment junk. I would want one with similar electronics, but new materials. Delete the back-up sensor and heated seats, please.
I plan on making what I want since they obviously aren't. Full interior upgrade to the new style dash, 6.7 diesel, front end conversion etc.
I don't want all the fancy bs either, I just want a new excursion!

Yeah a 6.7 Excursion without all the smog junk would put me in a joy induced coma!
I haven't been asked anything yet but I am patiently waiting.
I like having the back up camera so that I can have extra assurance no kids wandered back there and we also found it handy for hooking up hitch to the trailer.

Oh yeah! Judging by the prices that nice ones are getting lately, there's still demand!
I love the reaction when people ask what engine; I say 7.3 with 100k mi... Priceless!
I get some questions and compliments every now and then, but Excursions aren't uncommon around Houston honestly.
With all the emissions garbage and infotainment systems these days on a diesel, I don't know if I'd want to pick up a factory-new Excursion if they ever did come into production again.
I honestly get more questions or comments from the people that line up against it every now and then than I do regarding the standard vehicle questions.
Mileage is probably the biggest question I get, almost always when I'm filling up. Their eyes almost bug out of their head when I tell them it holds 44 gallons and gets 17.5-18.2 on the highway and mid teens around town.
I get, (disgusted look, whiny tree hugger voice) "why do you need something so big? You know thats bad for the environment. You're a bad person." I really get mad when they call it a Suburban.

I've had several Prius owners and other hybrid people pull the same thing. Then I throw some facts at them like the refinery for the battery material has a 5 mile radius deadzone due to pollution and fallout where NASA used to test their moon rovers, then it gets shipped all over the place, and the overall pollution contribution over the lifespan from build til scrap is far worse on their vehicle compared to mine. Mine may pollute more on the road, but did far less during its build.
Plus I just don't care what they think about my emissions, I am far more active in keeping things clean with volunteer freeway clean ups and trail rides to Tread Lightly than they ever will be. The same people that drive a hybrid for the environment are the ones I usually see walking right past recycling bins and throwing recyclables in the trash instead
