So I noticed my truck was running a couple quarts low and it whines right when you first start it up. I put more oil back in it but since its not leaving puddles I am thinking its burning it off. This didn't start happening until the weather got colder. After I floor it few times in park or Neutral the whine stops. Later I noticed some black stuff and oil coming out of the tail pipe. This also only happens I believe when cold starting. Now there is no smoke or oil spotting the ground. The truck does lack power but I figured it did not have much originally so this is to be expected. What do you guys think it is? Is there anything I can do?
The reason I initially said oil is because in 8 months of ownership it has burned through 3 out of 5 factory oil capacity. I had to put almost 4 quarts in it Saturday. Now the oil is caked on the oil pan but there is so oil on the ground, or spots anywhere else. So I am not sure what it could be. Also the tail pipe does not have any blue smoke or smoke of any kind for that matter.
