i have a 1988 f-250 4x4 i have found out i have a stuck valve in the right side head . does anyone know how to unstick the valves, is there ant thing i can put in the gas or oil to free them up the motor has 140,000 mi on it and i need it to run better and i do not want to remove the heads.
I worked as a parts manager for JEEP dealers for over twelve years and a few really good techs would do one of the two things I am going to describe to get valves unstuck.
1: replace your oil and oil filter. Substitute one quart of oil with Automatic transmission fluid. Start the vehicle and let it idle for about an hour. Drain oil and replace oil and oil filter. The detergents in the trans fluid wash down all the internal parts and gets rid of alot of the deposits that cause valves to stick
2: Replace oil and oilfilter except replace one quart of oil with a product called MARVEL MYSTERY OIL. Again, let the vehicle run for an hour and then drain and replace the oil and filter. Again the detergents in this product remove deposits that make valves stick.
I do the automatic trans fluid trick once a year to reduce build up deposits.
