I have aussie heads and one intake valve is white ? also on the next intake valve my valve is flush with the retainer. All valves are not flush they are 1/4 inch (+/-)higher than the retainer exept this one ?
The white valve is probably discoloration from the fuel used., but the flush valve is a problem. You should take those heads apart and check things out. I hope that you plan to do a valve job on them.
I dont thing it's the fuel because it's only on one valve. One of my freind said it's the prestone from a head gasket blow off ? When doing a valve job can i used my stock valve for 3 angle valve job ? I order valve springs to match my cam 972-16 with xe-256 and rocker arm stud/pushrod guideplate conversion kit and roller rocker from crane cams.
What is white on the valve....the valve face? About all i could think of would be if that cylinder was running exceptionally lean.
As for the stem....you're saying that the little bit that sticks out above the valve keeper isnt even there, it's flush with the top of the keeper? I know sometimes, back in the day, instead of going through all the trouble machine or shim up pedistool mount springs, they'd just grind the top of the valve down to get the right geometry. Although i've never seen anyone have to take it down THAT far. It's entirely possible whoever had it before you was a moron. I'd disassemble that whole head and see whats going on with it.
I would agree with your friend that the white valve is from a bad head gasket. the little bit of water getting into the cylinder is burning off leaving white resudue on the valve. had the same issue on a 302. check the head for straight and rework the heads you will be good to go.
I tear down the valves on aussie head. All exhaust valves are in bad shape where the keeper and retainer clip are. They are multi-groove and not much material left between the grooves and one as nothing left...that's why one valve was flush.
I'm not sure if i can take the valves on the 2v head ? They look the same exept the intake valve.the face of the valve is straight on ausssie head and on the 2v it's concave. Can it be possible to have more cc with those valve or it's minimal for my compression ?
