The CPS should have no effect whatsoever. Its merely a communication to the PCM for the IDM.

I think he meant the PCM and the IDM. Check the plugs as well while they are unplugged.

How do you check the pcm and idm while it's unplugged?

I meant check the connectors to and from each of these devices. Look for burn/bent pins. Corrosion could also be a factor.
