trans problem
i was driving down the road slowed down to get over then when i got on it to speed back up it had no power. well got it home and it acts like it is stuck in 3rd or 4th and wont come out. the overdrive light is flashing any ideas on what the problem is?

More information would be helpful....V-8,V-6,miles on the clock etc.My guess would be Torque converter stuck in O/D mode.Perhaps a stuck solenoid,or something to that effect.usually however when this happens,the Torque converter wont disengage from O/D and it will stall the engine when coming to a stop.
What color is the tranny fluid,and does it smell "burnt"?

On a 4r70w the default gear is third gear. Beins the O/D light is flashin u will have a code. My guess is something has failed ans it is defaulted to third gear so u can limp it home. Possibly shift solenoids, speed sensors, etc. More than likely an electrical issue.
If the torque converter is locked up and will not unlock, the engine should die when u r coming to a stop...
