Adding Ashless oil to fuel?

I used to add wallyworld ashless 2 stroke to my old 6.0, seemed to quiet it down and run smoother. Do these new 6.7s benefit from this? will it harm the engine/injectors?

That was common practice back in the day, but no way would I use it now.

I actually liked the sound of my 6.0. Let me know all was well.

No tranny fluid, 4 cycle oil, 2 cycle oil, ashless or otherwise should be added to these new beasts. I barely like adding fuel additives and wouldn't if I could trust that the fuel I pump was actually close to 50 Cetane and was treated properly for sub zero temps.

If you live in a warm climate or when you know the temps won't break 40 you can run some biodiesel up to 20% and that will quiet things down.

With the DPF on, I wouldn't chance it. Deleted maybe.

I wish I could post a link to the 6.7 Powerstroke page on Facebook. This topic was brought up and man you should see some of the advice being given out. I just slowly backed up....then when I got far enough, I turned and bolted for the door! Lot of "fail" in that thread.

My opinion, only use API CJ-4 diesel engine oil as required by Ford and don't add anything to it. If you have concerns, switch to full synthetic from any of the major brands. Rotella T6, Mobil 1, etc.. No need to make these engines quieter.

I didn't have a 6.0L but they do sound great. If I had more money than I knew what to do with, I would own one for the heck of it.

He was talking about adding 2 stroke to the fuel kper....we used to do that back in the day. Here is a little read about the topic:

and a thread on it here

I used to add 2 stroke to 7.3 and 6.0, but haven't since.

My son puts 2stroke oil in the fuel of his 05 Dmax, makes it run a lot quieter.

Not doing it with the 6.7 though.

Ah, I have heard of owners doing that years ago but I certainly wasn't on the same page here. I think I read "adding ashless oil" and then I turned my brain off! LOL.
