Heck if the cooling system is in good repair - why not 190? The only difference is the opening point of the thermostat, if the fans don't kick on until 208, Honda thinks it is just fine to run all day at 207... Now, if you were pulling a 5k trailer, I would probably want the thermostat to open a bit earlier (cooler) - but otherwise, I think someone at Honda was looking at the loading of the vehicle to max capacity and towing when they spec'd that thermostat..
One other thought - transmission cooler. If it has a cooler built into the radiator, that might have been one other factor...
Good evening everyone! Looks like the cold snap is on its way out, but we may have some snow in store for Christmas.

I thought the same thing, but I can't find anything higher than a 180 for this application. I stopped at the Honda dealer in White Bear this afternoon, but they didn't have the thermostat seal. I'll just have to source that from the aftermarket when I pick up the thermostat.

Yep, it has an in-tank cooler. I installed an auxiliary transmission cooler a few months ago when I installed the hitch. Honda requires an external cooler to tow with, and we sort of pushed the limits while moving.
Very interesting Randy, never saw one of those before.
Went out for a drive to collect some data. Peak temperature was 172 before the thermostat cracked and kept it between 169-171. Peak for the run was 174 after briskly accelerating up to speed, and it promptly declined to 170. The thermostat is working exactly as it should, so I think it's time to upgrade!
Just for s&g's you should check temp at the heater core in and out too, if you have a way.
Just went out there and took a look, was thinking about taking readings at the connections where the heater hoses go into the core. Unfortunately there is rubber insulation around the connections, so I have no way of getting accurate info with my IR thermometer.
Happy Saturday night everybody. I had a TPMS warning come on yesterday. It was time to rotate tires anyway, and then retrain the system to turn the annoying warning off. It's happened a couple of times now for no apparent reason.
Oh well, retraining the system is easier than Tom's heat, or lack of, issue I guess.
