X2^^.

WE recently stayed at and Embassy Suites in D.C. and man did the kids love it!! WE were only there for a week but they loved going down for that complimentary breakfast every morning. You'd probably get sick of it though as it is the same exact menu every single morning.

They had a pool and hot tub too and a mini fridge and microwave in the room.

I agree with Tom that your attitude is inspiring and I really like seeing the kinship between all of you. I am enjoying this forum more than Facebook now and that is saying A LOT!

Last but not least, thanks for your service to our country!!

Jon,

I can sympathize some what from your situation. My grandparents lost their home entirely in the late 60s and I've heard the story many times, held the one photo album that made it out which was their wedding album burnt edges and all. The tremendous loss I can't imagine and I've tried in the last few days to just get an idea. I commend you on the very positive attitude you have had, keep that up! I know i would have lost my ^#$( in a huge way.

Keep your head up, it's all up from here.

One of the positive things I see is at least everything wasn't burnt to a crisp. Things like photo albums and personal treasures can be saved yet. The structure of the house is rebuildable and good yet, and stuff like that.

I could not imagine having a complete loss like some tornado victims or complete burn downs where you have no time to get anything out. I mean how does a guy even start again if you have nothing, not even an ID. That is scary!

I know it will be a while before you are able to go through everything and see what is damaged and not but I figured I would throw this out there. My wife is capable of doing photo restoration and that use to be one of her main duties before leaving her job when we got pregnant with our fist child. If you do find pictures that are burnt or messed up, let us know and she will see what she can do.

I like your reply "yet".... This is a great country with many opportunities and if you want it, it's there for the taking period.

As far as 129 in that vehicle, yes he's a little off

Yep, my wife's favorite saying is "make lemonade out of lemons".

Probably the ONE advantage to not parking in the garage when stuff like this happens.

I know we've had folks on FTE where their faulty cruise control wiring burned the house down since the vehicle was in the garage.

Keep up the positive outlook!! And think about the great new interior you'll be getting.

Worst part? We were so far away when it happened so I hit the flashers and went as fast as I could the whole way saying to myself "as long as I drive safely speed isn't an issue since I know how to drive". The whole way there I did 5 under the limit because the rain was so bad and it was dark already. The few times I got up to the speed limit or a few miles above I didn't feel safe and slowed back down. At least I know my limits.

WOW! I'm so sorry for you guys. As everyone else has mentioned, I'm glad that all of you are safe. It's hard to wrap my head around what you are going through, but Wendy's blog is great insight...you're lucky to have her as you go through this together. We are all here for you. Take care my friend.

Wendy is an amazing writer (in my opinion) and has been writing since High School with the intent of being published some day. She is working on a book right not (on pause at the moment sadly) and we're hoping to start shopping it around his time next year. If it goes through then she can quit her ****ty pharmacy job she's been working for 12 years or so and become a published writer! Next stop, vacationing in south Florida on one of our members smaller yachts for a few days I'll have to order one of the packages that comes with no fuel, doesn't leave the dock, and has no staff. You know what... I think we might just save a few bucks and go to a hotel lol.
