So since it's thanksgiving and auto parts store is not open, I have time to post a question and see what others may suggest. Yesterday was driving my 197 F250 7.3L diesel. Stopped to see a friend for five minutes. Returned to my truck and noticed my battery, ABS, and emergency brake light indicators were illuminated. Put the key in the ignition and turned it to on position. Key seemed to turn more easily than normal. The "wait to start" light did not come on, and truck did not turn over when I turned the key to the starting position. I checked all connections to starting solenoid, batteries, and fuses. Nothing out of place. Pulled cover off of steering column and found all connections seem to be connected. Pulled ignition and then put it back in.
To get the truck started, to get home, I used jumper cables and ran power directly from battery to starter solenoid. Ran fine. When I got, turned the key to off, but the truck would not turn off. Had to pull connectors from solenoid to get truck to shut off.
Any suggestion? Solenoid or possibly bad part within the ignition tumbler? Any suggestions help and Happy Thanksgiving.
Part of the problem is a bad GPR, shorted inside. When that happens 12 volts if fed back on one of the small wires to fuse #22 powering up the PCM. That accounts for the dash lights, no WTS light and not turning off. Seen it before.
Thanks, I will try that. It was only 6 years ago I replaced the GPR. I don't remember it being the same symptoms but it is a cheaper fix if that is truly the problem. Phillip123, there is no noise there is 1 click from up in the engine compartment when I turn the key.

So I replaced the GPR and still the exact same problem. So I think that is ruled out. I've checked the electrical relays (all that I know exist), and I've pulled the ignition switch (tumbler housing) and there is nothing that sticks out as being broken. Can anyone think of anything else that might cause this issue?
