Gas Tanks? What fits?

I'm building the chassis up on my 60 right now and a gas tank is something I can't seem to decide on.

What have you guys found that fits in between the frame rails?

I saw these guys but seems high priced. Rick's Stainless Tanks - TANKS

I used a 69 mustang tank. I located it where the spare goes below the bed ( I have a long bed). I made it so the license plate folds down and that is how I fill the tank. See my gallery.

Here is a link to my thread with a couple links for using a junk yard tank from an Izuzu Rodeo. Works well if you want an in-tank fuel pump with a return line.

Yes. I used 2 pieces of angle iron one each side of the tank and bolted it to the frame. My fill comes out behind a fold down license plate.

Does your filler neck have enough drop to keep the fuel from splattering back on you when filling? I was measuring mine and it looks like the filler neck will be almost horizontal.

Very true, the drop is minimal and almost horizontal. If you fill the tank slowly it is not a problem. However I definitely think it is better than cutting a hole in the bed deck.

You certainly cannot fill the tank all the way and then park on a steep uphill grade.

I came across a tank for chevy blazer 2 door that would be good for EFI and would fit, it's 22.5 " wide and 10.5" high and it's 19 gallons.

I think a square body Suburban gas tank will fit between 34" frame rails.
