Improve reverse lights?
goes like this:
Where 7 goes to the ground in the 7 pin tow outlet, 1 would be the reverse from the tow outlet, 3 would be the constant 12V, and 2 would be the + wire to the lights. That way the switch connects either 1 and 2, or 3 and 2, or I can set it in the middle for off. This way I am using the built in reverse switch that sends current to the 7 pin tow outlet. Does that sound correct? Then the lights themselves are grounded to the chassis.

I don't tow often enough to worry about using the outlet. So, I plan to wire up this blank 7 blade plug to use the power from the reverse and constant, and use the ground. These wires will go to the 3 way switch so I can turn this light system off, or on, or when only in reverse. There are already 2 holes under in the towing frame (proper term?) for mounting the lights, and a spot to place the switch. Anyone with more experience with tinkering see a problem with my idea and parts listed?
Alright - I just ordered the same lights and switch as danorth. I am NOT going to wire it up to the towing outlet - as I do tow.
Is this a correct diagram I found?
So what is the best way to wire this up? Do I need diodes? What size? Recommended wire size? Not great at the electrical stuff.
Thanks!
