I plan on running new fuel line on my truck when I get home in a week or so. I know there was a thread about it somewhere, I searched and could not find it.
I believe it was about double annealed stainless steel tubing. it was corrosion resistant and easy to bend / flare. I think this is what I would like to use in 3/8".
That steel line from AZ looks fine. Steel lasted a long time on these trucks and it is easy to work with. SS is much harder to cut and flare. I used the same type of tubing from AZ in 3/16" to re-make a brake line yesterday.
Hopefully you are more artistic than I am with tubing... I can get from point A to point B OK but buy pre-bent from inline tube if it needs to be pretty.
Thank you. I am no artist either... Point A to Point B and functional. I want it to look good, but show quality is not in my budget.
I am going to install a return style fuel system and depending on hoe the first line goes, the original line may become the return line. I want to run two new lines, but we'll see how the first one goes.
The kind used on more modern vehicles. They last forever like those poly fuel tanks. But are a bit of a pain to setup but boiling the ends in water will ease assembly.
NAPA (and others) sell Nicopp "brake line" that works perfect. It has the fittings on the ends that fit carbs and fuel pumps perfect. Kind of a greenish color.
Just make sure the fitting is where you want it before bending. Ask me how I know. The one I have on here now is way too long, they were out of what I needed. It works, just looks silly. I'll get around to replacing it eventually.
Thanks Tedster, I'll check it out when I get back into town. I'm either going with the NiCopp or the Poly Armour Coated steel. Depends on the price once I get my hands on it.
I just replaced my full length of line with aluminum 3/8" line from speedwaymotors.com Very easy to bend and work with, price is right. I did the full line front to rear in under an hour.
