I'm not sure why they didn't use that in the first place, but they didn't on my 88.
As far as GVOD delete... all you need to do is get 12V and ground to the two GVOD solenoid terminals when you want it active. So literally just switched power to one terminal, ground to the other.
You'll find that with the switch on, and it engaged it will /stay/ engaged, even if you stop. If it's not engaged when you stop, it won't engage(has to be spinning to engage). It will clunk in once you start(not recommended).
You also have to make sure the switch is /off/ when in reverse. It can try to engage going in reverse and will make rubbing/grinding sounds and wear the clutch inside. This is something the computer prevented you from doing.
