Hello. I have a 66 with 352. I currently have a 1 wire alternator with the voltage regulator attached to the back of it. I believe that it is bad and need to know what year vehicle that comes out of. They can't test it at auto parts store unless they know what it came out of. My gauge in truck was showing 8 amps while driving today and then it wouldn't restart after I shut it down.
Is it a Ford alternator, or the popular GM conversion that many do? I don't know how you can tell what year either could be from. However, my 69 Tbird has the original Ford type with a transistor regulator attached to the back. Maybe that is what they used. Also not sure if 69 was the first year for that, but maybe Numberdummy could help out with that.

I am not sure what type of alternator it is. I just actually purchased one today from Summit. It is a 100 amp which should work better with my electric fans. Thanks for responding.
This wiring diagram in the link above shows how to use a GM one wire alternator and still use the original dash mounted alternator light. I used this in my 65 and works great.
