Ford Doctor is a wise man....

I wonder how many owners of these trucks put 2 cycle oil or transmission fluid into the fuel for lubrication because they don't want to purchase the correct fuel additive?

And I'll X5 that. To save $10 every couple thousand miles just isn't worth the risk.

........but it IS his $50K truck to do as he pleases not what we think. I just hope that he never posts a thread as to how it cost him many thousands to get repairs after using the home brew plus bashing the manufacturer for making 'junk'

Sure it's his truck and he can poor whatever he want's into his DEF tank. The problem is when one recommends such risky actions that puts other owners trucks and finances into harms way then that recommendation needs to be faced with counter responses. In addition I'm sure the manufacturers get bashed for the owners neglect as well which is the story you typically won't hear.

I think we, including at least one post or more of mine prior has stated that fact. My last one basically says that we have given our opinions, now you can do what you want but don't come on a Ford truck forum stating that 'they built a piece of junk' because the DEF system got real expensive to repair.

I think these discussions are valuable in order to let people new to diesels know
what the consequences may be in the quest to save a buck in vulnerable and expensive areas.

And sir, I am in full agreement with you! But you know there are still people out there that think somebody will build a $100 device to convert air or water into fuel, and somebody will sell it to them! And said buyer will swear he is getting 50 MPG with his truck!

Ford 100,000 mile maintenance and service warranties = don't need to worry about it.

Like I said, Rodney, not a clue since he quoted my post on this thread - and I don't read nor have interest in every thread here

But with that said, I'll just let the thread go back to the subject
