Not sure about the hose pulling on it enough to crack it. there is plenty of slop in the hose. It didn't drop much when I took the bottle out. It also woundn't explain the cracks on the back and sides.

I will move the hose clamps forward.

The motor dosen't rock much when I press the throttle in drive.

With multiple cracks all over the tank, it seems like the plastic the tank is made of can't handle the pressure at the tempature that the coolant gets to. the ribs in the tank seem to be the weakest points as that is where it tends to crack.

well just changed out another degas bottle. This one was installed in November, so I got 7 months out of it. I keep a spare on the shelf now and rotate between 2 stores for the warranty.

changed out the Mishimoto 203* tstat back to a new MC to see if that helps.

I changed mine back in the Summer of 2012 and I've noticed little cracks all over mine too. Mine lasted longer than yours but even so you would think they should still last longer than a few years. The next one will be number 4 for my truck.

Watched a program the other night where the mechanic stated that worm gear clamps are bad for any connection that has a rubber rose on a plastic nipple in the cooling system. They don't expand and contract with the temp. swings that a spring clamp will. The mechanic showed a plastic radiator inlet that was broken because of the worm gear clamp.

I have to ask. Who made the degas tank in both cases?

I would also add that when dealing with new rubber hoses the worm clamps
will loose some force when the rubber takes sets a grove from the clamp after
the first few heat/cooling cycles.

Yahiko, the ones I bought were Motorcraft directly from the Dealer. I won't touch Dorman, already learned that lesson with a fan cluch. Lol The current one has cracks in other areas besides the hose connector. It's not leaking yet but I'm keeping an eye on it.
