Hello, I am new to this forum and the Excursion I just picked up a week ago. I have done some searching and found these threads helpful regarding the switching of plugs and boots, and how to seal up the factory water channel.
My X is now stumbling when going up hill with light acceleration after a heavy rainfall yesterday. So, I will seal up that gap in the weather strip / plastic underneath and replace the boots. There is a CEL today. I am not able to check it right now, but will once I get home.
My questions:
1. Once the boot is replaced, should I still have the stumbling?
2. Is the one rainfall enough to kill a COP?
3. Or, once all is dry, and the boot replaced, the COP will be fine?
The X is a 2003, garage kept prior to my purchase, with 97K on it. V10 I know that the 100K marks things going out, but this was fine going up the hills Friday, just a heavy rain, and a problem going back down on Sunday. When I bought it there were no issues, and I had to drive it 400 miles just to get it home.
Replaced 2 boots. Cleaned the COPs. Greased and vac' the holes. Cleared the codes. Good as new. I will report back after a week or if something starts up again.
