'08 Ford F-150 with 53,000 miles. ABS indicator light has been coming on intermittently for a week now. Mechanic said its a left front wheel sensor code. Wants to charge $98 to diagnose. Says it could be bad sensor or broken wire.
I have limited mechanical experience. Is this something I can tackle? Or is this a major job?
2 wheel drive is pretty easy, 4 wheel drive just a bit tougher.
Don't pay for the diag, just spend the cash and put one on.
Intermittent codes/ warning lights like that are sensors/wires 99.99 percent of the time.
Just be certain the wheel bearing is in good condition as a loose one can cause a similar problem
If the code says its the left front wheel.......... what is their to diagnose ? Look at the sensor / wire / plug ..... If everything looks OK, no corrosion or visual , then replace the sensor.
