You may get honest opinions but they will all be different.. Posted here most will say FE, posted in the 385 series section and they will tell you a 460..
Also depends on your skill and size of wallet.
The swap will require more money and Fabrication skills and tools .
Personally I'd keep the FE , Not every one has a FE
OK, I was wondering about this being a 390 as you have a '78. I see that has been covered in one of your prior posts. You also indicate you are 18, and have no money.
So the answer is no, don't even think about swapping in a 460.
I take it you got your electrical and carb problems solved. Correct?
Does this thing run ok now?
IMO your best bet is to make sure this motor is in tune and running correctly.
Have you done a compression test on it? If it's running ok and not smoking and leaking gas, that might be the next step. It will give you a good idea of the condition of the engine and help you decide if you are going to keep it, rebuild it or steam-clean it, spray paint it and sell it.
With some wise parts choices and tuning (Distributor recurve, headers, intake, etc) there is NO reason a 390 cannot do exactly what a 460 can do in the idle-4500 daily driver range. My daily driver pickup truck has a 390 and it is perfect for that duty.

That is the key to both questions. If not broke fixing the FE will be the cheapest.
