I'm in the same boat. Normal driving my rig doesn't burn much but if I'm towing she will start drinking. Rebuilt Van Turbo but same issue. Fuel filter has a black look to it but not REAL bad.

If you have not done either before, it is not too difficult.
Had to do mine again about two months ago.

Also have a new wrinkle with the other problem. Had to make a pull before the repair and now it hast to crank a long time (even hot) to restart. Oh,well ?
