Trans issue need help

have to get rpm's over 2k before trans will engage, then in between shifts I either have to let off throttle or let engine rev over 2k to get trans to shift, any ideas?

that doesn't help me Scott. lol. I'm aware of the spending money, thing that sucks is that the trans only has a few thousand after a rebuild. Glad it's my buddies truck and not mine. any other ideas as to what is causing it?

Either it's very low on fluid, or the internal filter fell out, or the trans is trashed and needs to be rebuilt.
