I have a 2000 Excursion with the 7.3 and I am experiencing a slow crank issue. It will always start but it always cranks slow/takes a while to start. Once it does start a good puff of white smoke will blow out the exhaust but it then runs fine. Once it is started it has no issues. I do have a couple error codes that I have been told are from the notorious loose UVCH such as injector 1 and 8 high side circuit open. Could this cause the issue? I know the batteries are good because I have had them tested and I have also swapped with brand new batteries and I have the same issue. I have also replaced the battery cable that ties the two together. Any help would be greatly appreciated because this is my old ladies truck and she will not get off my back until it is fixed and I really don't want to put it in the shop.
I have had the starter tested and it checked out perfect. I forgot to mention that. I wI'll double check the frame grounds tommorow but I have no idea where they are located.

Man that doesn't make me feel good... I'm beginning to think I may have the same luck... with any luck someone will plow into it in the driveway lol we love the truck minus this one issue but she is an evil truck
A bad starter will chew through batteries and alternator. Put an amp meter on the starter wire and see what it is drawing under load. Check alternator output, load test batteries, check power into starter, and motor grounding. Good luck!
