What airbags do you guys have in your trucks. Especially those with TCs in them. Dont believe I need automatic ones, but want to know opinions on brands.
Firestone Ride-rite system with in-cab dual airbag controller. Installed it in one day in my driveway. Won't be without airbags or on-board air in a truck ever again.
I've got the Air Lift 5000s in my Excursion. I love them.... some of the best money I've spent. Mine are temporarily manual fill, but I'm piecing together an on board air system right now. I installed the kit in my driveway in around 3 hours. I bought the Air Lift kit because they occasionally run a $50 mail in rebate on the bags, and also a $50 rebate on their compressor kits.... so check their website when you are ready to buy.
I just put the Ride Rites on. On my truck the jounce stop interferes with bottom airbag bolt and won't allow bolt/bracket alignment while maintaining the minimum bag height. I tried it anyway and at the 5 psi min air pressure it raised the rear of the truck almost 2" and rode much harder. I called Firestone and the tech walked me through the "fix", this cured the bag height problem and the ride is just as it was without the bags. It's not the prettiest install but will probably work ok, I'm going to try and clean it up before I tow with it in the spring.
air lift with the wireless in cab controller. Really slick setup and makes adjusting the bags super simple. Pretty easy install, although I did have some struggles due to some changes in the suspension the PO did.
Flip a coin - the Ride Rite and Air Lift products are the standard for our pick ups. I found a great price on the Ride Rites when it came time to buy mine - and it was a 3 hour project in my driveway with one hour spent with one DEF tank bolt that needs to come out for a bracket change. As far as an auto air system - I spent my bucks elsewhere as 5-10 pounds empty and 30-35 with the 5er in tow works for me and they don't leak. At 30 pounds empty, they are a little rough riding but since my wife isn't complaining, no problem.
