My first camper

I bought this camper over the weekend. Northstar 10.5XL Roughly 2700 LB

I was wondering suspension up grades you could recommend? I was thinking air bags on the back but not sure which brand to purchase. The truck gets a little bouncy in the rear when I go over bumps.

bouncy.. is shocks...

air bags are for load. level. more weight.

does your truck have the Camper rear springs?

if you go the air bags.. think about on board air compressor.

When the truck is not loaded it rides fine. With the camper you can tell there is extra weight in the rear nose is a little up in the air but not to bad.

I believe it's just stock leaf springs in the rear.

I was informed the truck was owned by Texas fire department. So who knows if they did any upgrades to it when they own it?

I had good luck with the firestone ride rites.

Looks good sitting on the truck.

For my 2006 XLT - I got lucky and found a used set of Hellwig air bags on craigslist for $150.00. They were like new. I bought the poly tubing off ebay and mounted the fill valves (schrader valves) through the lower rear license plate mounting bolt holes. It takes only 20 lbs of air to level out my truck with the tongue weight of our 28' travel Trailer. Not sure yet of my tongue weight. I've installed a 2 gal air tank - free from a junk 67 Peterbuilt from my work and picked up and installed a used Viair 380C compressor from craigslist. Still haven't wired it yet. If you have patience you should be able to find the stuff you need for a good price. I'm Cheap & Lazy.
