Well my wtsl isn't coming on and I don't hear any clicks for glow plugs. So I decided to check stuff out. I just got this truck. Hardly know anything about them but researched the whole glow plug deal. Well mine don't look like the others. Any help?
Looks to me like the po tried to make a glow plug relay out of a starter solinoid??? Idk but what youve got there really doesnt look like a proper glow relay to me, it looks hacked at forsure
Ya I was thinking it looked like the starter silinoid. Was gonna go off and test it and what not. But had no idea since it looked like this. Thank goodness I got this for stupid cheap cause its looking like Imma have to spend some good time and money on it.
Ok update here. Talked to PO. He thought it was just glow plugs. Asked him if he was still in contact from owner he got it from. Gave me info. This owner test glow plugs. He says everything was a ok with glow plugs in fact pretty new. But it needs a controller and power for controller.
Any preference for what controller relay I should pick up? And anyone got a diagram off hand for the whole setup? Thanks.
what you have on the passenger side fender is the proper starter relay.
what he butchered into the glow plug circuit is an older starter solenoid without the controller, and it will not work.
starter relays/solenoids are body ground, and will not work unless grounded.
glow plug relays are internally grounded. the two large lugs are for power in/power out. the two small terminals are for trigger power. one gets 12 volts, the other gets grounded.
