glow plugs
I have a 1996 F250 PS. Today was the first cold day and it was hard starting. I found the glow plug relay terminal burnt off. Replaced it with a solenoid for now. Truck now starts right up but voltage to solenoid coil stays on continously keeping glow plugs energized. I suspect glow plug controller but don't know where it is located. Can anyone tell me where it is located? Thanks

[link:http://community.webshots.com/photo/30034424/30617814cZOLspiYVv|This pic] will show you some basic locations for things under the hood. I would recommend not allowing the glow plugs to stay energized 100% of the time if you are driving the truck since you will most likely damage them or the wiring. You can pick up a glow plug relay cheaper from International than from Ford. For a 1996 it is International part number 1826634C94.

glow plugs
can't open pic. I connected a switch temporarily to operate my glow plugs the solenoid mounts up in place of glow plug relay and seems to be working fine it cost me $17.00 at napa and is able to handle more current than a glow plug relay the only difference the coil on the solenoid draws 3 amps compared to glow plug relay which draws a little over 1 amp.
