I just bought a new 2016 6.7, and would like to do a High Idle Mod.
I did it on my 2011, and am wondering if the procedure and Wiring Color Codes are the same on the 2016 any info would be appreciated.....TNX
I know this is an old thread but I am having issues
2016 F550
The dam thing has a auto shut down timer and to keep it running and to prevent wet stacking I did the high idle mod
Bought some 20k resistors
found the winging under dash by e-brake
spliced the Brown wire for up fitter switch #4 to the yellow/green wire
then put PTO RPM green wire to PTO reference white/brown with 20k resistor
Truck is up to operating temp, e-brake on and up fitter switch 4 on.
NOTHING. I can hear a relay click but nothing.
Checked fuse for the switch(15 amp #2 position at passenger kick panel) it is good.
Thanks to the brave work of others, I did the high idle mod on my 2013 Super Duty Lariat 6.7L Diesel. Thank you to the earlier posters.
Instead of a single on-off switch, I incorporated a double pole, 4 position rotary switch so I could choose the idle speed I want. In my case, 900 RPM for extended idling, 1200 for a little more and 1800 for jump starting/boosting another vehicle.
Note that this schematic is for diesels only. The gas engine wiring is different. Reference the Ford Body Builder Book for the tech document Q-180R2 for the full scoop.
The switch provides more RPM options than a simple on-off switch some others have used. A red flashing LED shows that the circuit is active. I used a 2 amp fuse to protect the PCM circuit.
FWIW, here is the schematic, which should be good for at least 2011-2015 diesel trucks. I am not sure about the 2016+ models as far as the color coding goes. Someone else can chime in on that. For the 2011, note that CDC64 (shown as WHI/BLU in the schematic) is YEL/ORA in the early 2011 builds.
See the attached PDF for better detail. For some reason the png file looks fuzzy.
